Jimmy’s Burgers

I love sandwiches! There’s no way around it. As a little girl, my easiest, go-to meal was a sandwich with a Kraft singles slice of cheese, deli meat and mayo. I’ve never been into lettuce and recently came around to fresh tomatoes. And of course, chips or fries on the side. It so classic, it’s still a staple in my daily life as an adult. In my sandwich realm, a sandwich is anything in between 2 slices of bread. Super vague, so let me give you an American staple and easy, mouth-watering option… let’s start off with a burger!

Jimmy’s Burgers is located in Oak Cliff (that’s my hood!) off Wheatland Road & Westmoreland Road. The Inspiring Body of Christ Church (IBOC) is sitting right behind it, which makes it pretty hard to miss. Jimmy’s is a mom and pop kitchen serving fresh food off the grill. My interaction with the staff was awesome. They provided recommendations on the menu, serving fresh, hot burgers and sandwiches. They also have quesadillas, salads, apps/sides and a section for the kiddos. Prices are extremely reasonable. They’ve got a fridge next to the drink station that stores sauce and condiments like ketchup. All burgers start at half a pound, so at least they aren’t skimping on the meat. Which brings me to the burgers…

The Texas Big Burger has sautéed onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, bell peppers, bacon, American & Provolone cheese, mayo, ketchup, hickory sauce, mustard, lettuce and pickles. Believe me, I know it sounds excessive, but all of these flavors created a harmonious bite. Kicks of heat, sweet and salty, tangy and cheesy combinations… could you believe I forgot about the other burger? The Thousand Island Burger has bacon, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, Thousand Island dressing, lettuce, tomato and pickles. I ordered this burger because it sounded like In-and-Out, so brand won me. I actually took a bite of this burger first and it was good. The patty is seasoned well, buns grilled, onions had a nice char and not too crunchy, cheesy, melty and ready to pull apart… this burger was a prefacer. I got to enjoy the simplicity of this burger before let my taste buds rocket. Lastly, the onion rings did not have that traditional slightly sweet taste to them. I enjoyed that mildness. They were fried perfectly and golden. And that crunch made me want to be “Crunchatized”!

Make sure you stop by Jimmy’s to get a fresh, tasty burger!
