Fireside Pies – Dallas, Texas

I was on a mission to get to the Lover’s location, but when I got there, C-L-O-S-E-D! Valet told me the location was permanently closed. I was a little pissed about this. There’s no type of signage or anything. However, I also found out they have a spot in Lower Greenville/Uptown. So I ushered my mom to her car and we headed to Fireside Pies on Henderson for Monday dinner.

Each fireside pies restaurant mirrors the character of its neighborhood so no two are the same but all evoke the soul of heartfelt rustic cooking, genuine hospitality, and the joyous spirit of a great gathering place.

I’m not sure when it changed but once upon a time ago, Mondays were for half-priced pizza, now it is half-priced meatballs. The Molten Meatballs are house-made, drowned in roasted ragu sauce, topped with mozzarella, and served with crostini. I really felt like pretty much everything lacked seasoning, especially the meat. I wouldn’t go and place an order for the meatballs again. But they do have this roasted red pepper ranch that instantly makes everything better. From a bad day to those meatballs, there’s nothing it can’t fix! You also can’t go wrong with the wood-fired pizzas. One of my go-to’s is the Triple Roni Pepperoni, Mozzarella, Truffle Oil, Basil. I also like the Garlic White! They recently added a new pizza to the menu, The Lahmacun. It’s Sumac seasoned lamb, minced vegetables and herbs, served on thin fire-roasted pie dough, and folded over. Topped with Labneh and baybeeh, I can’t wait to try it.
