I’m a native Arlingtonite and Campo Verde has been around longer than I can remember. My mom and I went once when I was a young girl but just that one time.

Campo Verde opened its doors July 10, 1983, which is history-making in today’s restaurant arena. We are truly family and have employees that have been with us most of those 34 years. We feel our customers are our family, too.

Well, some 20-something years later, I returned with my girl, Tiara (@pottymouthkitchen). We both expressed interest in at least going to see the festive holiday decor. Many other influencers we follow had posted pictures in this seasonal “extravaganza”. It translatea well for a photo, but as a foodie, I was less than impressed. It’s primarily a bunch of streamers, some lights, couple trees and boom… that’s it, that’s all! We waited quite some time; about an hour. Then, we waited to be seated. When we were seated our waitress was chatty about how many hours she’s had to work.

She also could not recommend anything on the menu. First red flag. We then asked a busser about recommended bites and his two suggestions were simple, quesadillas and bacon-wrapped shrimp. Second red flag. We can see where this is headed. Eventually, my lemonade came out and a syrup-y margarita as well. Their housemade cheese sauce was swirled on the table with chips and salsa. Certainly, the cheese sauce would be good, but nope. Completely watered down, processed, bland and used repetively throughout the menu on other items like the cheese enchiladas. Which came on my Lunchita Combo Plate accompanied by a chicken flauta, and two mini beef tacos plus, rice and beans. The tacos and flauta tasted decent. The tortilla for the flauta had no flavor and was thin, followed up my unseasoned, dry chicken meat. The tacos had a good crunch but no one is seasoning the meat (or anything) here! And I just cant! This was by far the worst meal I ate in 2021.

I think this the perfect stop if you have younger ones. They would appreciate all the holiday feels and it’s a cheap meal.
